Overview:
Muhammad has emerged over the past two seasons as one of the most talented defensive backs in college football. He will now enter 2024 as arguably the best cornerback on the Oregon Ducks' roster and have a chance to solidify his bid to play at the next level.
The 5'10" corner saw his most productive season this past season where he totaled 3 interceptions and 14 passes defensed, also adding 2 sacks to his stat line. That was a great improvement over his 2022 campaign that saw him post 1 interception and 9 passes defensed.
Muhammad will be eligible to declare for the draft and if he continues his upward trend he could have the chance to hear his name called early on.
Strengths:
Excellent recovery speed to close windows in a hurry.
Plays through the receiver leading to knockouts.
Shows great awareness when playing in deep and shallow zones.
Willing tackler, drives through his shoulders to bring down bigger ballcarriers.
Elite trail technique in man coverage.
Patient, controlled backpedal that allows him to keep his leverage.
Best slot cornerback in the class.
Can blitz out of the slot with blistering closing speed.
Weaknesses:
Gets beat deep too often.
Lacks elite ball production.
Tends to get lost in space when defending the run.
Doesn't always commit to coming downhill.
