Overview:
The ascension of Kyren Lacy has been a fun one to watch. He entered the season as a breakout candidate and for all intents and purposes did just that.
Lacy had 58 receptions for 866 yards and seven touchdowns on the season. He led the LSU Tigers in all categories in 2024.
His 2024 wasn’t one for the ages but it was good enough to get the attention of NFL scouts. Lacy should be able to raise his stock as the offseason progresses.
Strengths:
Strong hands that attack the ball.
Natural hands catcher with an above average catch radius.
Ballerina-like body control and ability to make acrobatic catches with ease.
Understands coverages and zones, shows the ability to throttle down and make easy windows for his quarterback.
Special after the catch, can make defenders miss and pick up extra yards.
Smooth route runner with an above average array of release moves.
Makes catches through contact look easy.
Ability to play both outside and slot positions making him a matchup nightmare.
Special ball skills and tracking ability.
Weaknesses:
Rounds off breaks which can lead to loss of ground and leverage.
Lacks the hand placement and attitude to be an effective downfield blocker.
Tends to struggle against elite competition.
Speed is a question mark, lacks that second gear needed to be a deep threat.
